Cody Hopkins is an Oglala Lakota wicasa, a dedicated advocate for Indigenous resilience, and the founder and president of VOICES, a nonprofit organization focused on supporting men’s mental health. Born in Seattle, Washington and raised in Minneapolis, Minnesota and Rapid City, South Dakota, Cody’s life journey reflects both deep-rooted cultural heritage and hard-earned personal strength.
Coming from a long line of Lakota horsemen in Allen, South Dakota, Cody grew up within the South Dakota system, including time in foster care. These early experiences, shaped by generational trauma and the challenges faced by Indigenous communities, became the foundation of his purpose-driven work. Cody is proud to have broken cycles of silence and survival, choosing instead to lead with healing, advocacy, and community empowerment.
As a speaker, Cody brings an honest and powerful voice to the conversation around domestic violence, intergenerational trauma, and the importance of creating culturally grounded mental health support for men. His story is not just one of survival, but of standing tall in the face of adversity—and reaching back to help others do the same.
Cody stands with his past, grounded in his present, and speaks with purpose for the future.
